University of Colorado at Colorado Springs sociology professor Abby Ferber, Ph.D., has seen pure hate.
She has delved into the world of the white supremacist movement and has told her tale all across the nation.
Ferber will speak today at 2 p.m. in Natural Resources Building Room 113 to students and faculty about her undercover research into a white supremacist group in Colorado Springs.
“I am interested because of the in-depth work she did by going to live with them, instead of sitting in an office,” said junior sociology and anthropology major Heather Bailey.
The Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society sponsors the lecture for its annual speaker before students are inducted. It is the last lecture before students like Bailey are inducted into the honor society.
“We try to select professors who are conducting rigorous research but that has real applications to the real world,” said AKD Faculty Adviser and sociology professor Lori Peek.
The lecture is open to all students and will include a question and answer session.
“I’m just curious to see what she found out and how her opinions changed from before she went in and after she went in,” Bailey said.
Ferber wrote the book “White Man Falling: Race, Gender, and White Supremacy” and is a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post.
