COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Springs Police Department received a call from an individual saying his friends took him to an unknown location in the woods early Sunday.

Officers received the call after midnight from a person saying his friends took him into the woods and would not tell him what they were doing or where they were going. He also told police he’d been separated from his friends and only had one percent battery life left, police said.

According to CSPD, officers discovered the caller was in the area in the hills north of UCCS using the GPS location from his phone. Multiple officers responded to check the area, and spoke with a UCCS officer who said he thought he heard a scream.

Numerous crews including two K-9s, three UCCS officers, and several firefighters also responded to search the area. Crews conducted searches on foot, used a UTV, and a number of thermal imaging units but no one was located, police said.

Early morning we received information about a possible missing hiker in that area, but police released this information later in the day.

The searches lasted several hours, but no contact was made.
