UCCS police officer loses battle with cancer

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Police Department lost one of its own this weekend after Officer Larry Darnall passed away due to cancer Saturday.

According to a social media post by the department, Darnall had been with UCCS PD since Dec. 11, 2006. Before his 11-year career with the department, he worked as a deputy for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Darnall had also received the Medal of Valor from the department for his work during the Black Forest Fire.

Funeral arrangements are still pending.
