Garrett Swasey remembered on second anniversary of Planned Parenthood shooting that took his life

The life of a fallen officer was remembered by his community during a candlelight vigil and a moment of silence Monday night.

Garrett Swasey died in the line of duty during the Planned Parenthood shooting two years ago. He was one of three killed that day. Also killed, a mother of two Jennifer Markovsky and Iraq War veteran Ke’Arre Stewart.

Swasey served six years as an officer for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. Monday. Students and faculty told 11 News it’s incredibly important to keep Officer Swasey in their memory and to celebrate his life.

“It’s been an ongoing process of healing,” said Chief Marc Pino with the UCCS Police Department.
