Transcript: 02/09/2017: KRDO (ABC) protecting business and the government from cyber crime is a focus of the cyberspace symposium being held this week in colorado springs. the event, at the broadmoor, brings government and industry together to exchange ideas related to today’s toughest cyber challenges. and because colorado springs is home to a national cyber security center, local companies are using the platform to expose college students to the jobs available in the cyber industry. in an event called the ctf challenge, students compete to for a flag and ipad … by trying to hack into different programs. this is real world-type experience right? so when they can look at an employer and they’re like so, you know, i’ve been a ctf champion. that gives that employer an idea they’ve done some hands-on keyboard work. and they understand a little more than what they learn in a classroom or book. “there are lots and lots of jobs in the cyber security sector available in colorado springs. our job is really to expose people and educate so they can have those jobs here in town.” the cyberspace symposium ends today. this year’s ctf teams came from the air force academy, colorado tech, colorado college, uccs and pikes peak community college. …
