Transcript: 05/20/2016: KKTV (CBS) … new tonight a cyber security center is officially headed to southern colorado bringing jobs and possibly more companies to our area. the governor signed a bill into law today to bring the center to colorado springs. 11 news reporter katie pelton joins us live from the center where it will be built. katie, what is the center for? like the governor said today, thousands of people are trying to hack into our technology every day. now, this center will become like a mecca to respond to cyber-attacks. nats: 17:09:50 “that is law.” with the governor’s mark the national cyber intelligence center is officially headed to colorado springs. it allocates 8-million dollars in state funds to renovate this uccs-owned building off nevada, which will house the center. gov: 17:15:28 “the thing i worry most about is cyber security. and we spend a tremendous amount of time looking at it because a large attack, all of our critical infrastructure could be at risk, the very way we do business.” it will be a headquarters for research and development. plus government officials from across the country will get training to fight cyber-attacks, and…. gov: 17:12:50 “when a company, any company is breeched, we can get someone there in real time and electronically go and find out what the damage has been done and how to remediate that.” ed anderson, national cyber intelligence center: 17:22:45 “it’s going to be bringing businesses to colorado springs and colorado because of the ncic because of what we do.” sen. lamberg: nats: “if you build it they will come.” mos: 17:37:05 “that says something about where our location is.” mos: 17:38:20 “i think this is going to be the whole cyber intelligence hub.” the governor says over the next couple decades this could bring tens of thousands of new jobs. the goal is to kick off operations on november first. reporting live katie pelton kktv 11 news. thank you katie. there are only a couple other centers like this in the country. some of them are in texas, …
